We took a break after the pandemic but we’re back!
As a venue on the Wivenhoe Art Trail November 13-15th 2026 we’ll be showing the work of 5 local artists and then from 20th November - 20th December, the lovely Christmas Cornucopia will return with a mixed exhibition of local and national artists and makers. With painting, printmaking, ceramics, photography, textiles and contemporary craft, the exhibition brings together returning Shipyard Studios favourites alongside exciting new exhibitors. Shipyard Studios is an established pop-up gallery on the redeveloped Cooks Shipyard site in Wivenhoe on the River Colne in Essex.
Shipyard Studios began in 2011 when Abi Concannon and her young family moved into a live/work unit at Cook's Shipyard, Wivenhoe, where home, studio and public walkway met. What started as an experiment with local creatives became pop-up exhibitions featuring artists and makers from East Anglia and beyond.
The Christmas Cornucopia grew from those shows — a seasonal celebration of abundant, diverse work: ceramics, textiles, jewellery, printmaking, fine art and crafted objects for everyday life. The goal was always to show how creative work enriches ordinary living.
The gallery is our living room and office. For each exhibition we clear personal items but keep the furniture and domestic scale so visitors see work in a familiar, accessible setting.
With a career that has spanned fashion, film, landscape design, teaching, therapy and consultancy, my work has always centred on creating conditions for people to develop and express themselves. Shipyard Studios continues that purpose.
After pandemic-related focus on NHS leadership and growing my business Shaw Concannon Consultants, the gallery has been mostly dormant since 2021. Christmas Cornucopia 2026 marks its return — emphasising quality, choice and craftsmanship across disciplines, united by excellence and commitment.
